The main aim of pre-school is to provide care and education for children aged 2 years 6 months – 5 years. We aim to provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment where children are valued as individuals and where they can learn by playing together. We believe that young children learn best through play and aim to provide a range of activities that capture children’s interests and imaginations and help them to learn new concepts and develop their skills. We will support children and families until the children move on to school.
The Pre-school has links with the Toddler group which meets in the same space and families are very welcome to attend these sessions on Wednesday afternoons from 1.30-3pm.
To support children’s learning and development, we take children from 2 years of age – funded and non-funded, we have a SENCO officer who is trained and has experience with children with SEN. The children and families are supported and work together for the child’s better outcomes. There are no limitations in time spent with SEN children, we employ staff to work 1:1 with SEN children. On-going support is provided and transitions to schools are supported.
We are a preschool run from a local church. We take children from the ages of 2 - 5 years.

Carlton preschool is a community based, voluntary managed setting, situated in the heart of Carlton village. It operates from a large room adjoining the Lower School/Village Hall. There is access to the toilet area, which includes one small toilet and an accessible/disable toilet, with hand washing facilities. There is a secure fenced garden area, allowing free flow play. The typical activities we do daily by following the seven areas of EYFS curriculum such as: painting, sand play, water play, role play, small world, puzzles, stories, mark making and cooking (once or twice week).
We don’t have any limitation to support children’s learning but however, activities such as: fundamental (sports session) has set up time.
Cheeky Monkeys Two is a full day care nursery and we cater for children aged 3 months to 5 years and are able to take children with special educational needs and disabilities. We work closely with the Early Years Support Team at the Child Development Centre in Kempston and where necessary we can refer a child for assessment and when needed will appoint a 1 to 1 key person who works with the child and their fairly to ensure they get the most out of the setting.
We work with the EYFS framework and all of our learning is through play. All of our activities and resources are accessible to all.
At Christ Church Pre-School we aim to provide a safe, caring and positive environment in which we offer opportunities for children to learn and develop emotionally, socially, intellectually and physically through varied play in order to gain confidence and independence.
Christ Church Pre-School is committed to the safeguarding of all children and adopts recruitment procedures that promote the safety and well-being of children. The practitioners are all experienced, highly trained carers and educators, who are knowledgeable about how children learn, about child development and care, and have a passionate commitment to the pre-school and its aims.
We are able to support children up to the age of 5 as per our OFSTED registration and insurance. Ongoing support includes sharing information such as observations, assessments, IEP and visits to the child’s next setting and working with their new key person. We liaise with external agencies to ensure children with identified SEND will receive appropriate and specific support, for example speech & language therapists, occupational or physiotherapists
