Society Feedback Letter

Response From Bedford Borough’S SEN & Disability Guide

Thank you for your letter dated 3 September 2015 regarding an audit of Local Authority Local offers. You have noted some useful information where we can hopefully seek to update our website and ensure that we continue to improve the support we can offer to families and young people who are faced with needs linked to hearing impairment. In response to your questions raised I note the following:

  • I can confirm that we are looking to consult with a local service called Access Bedford who will support us with further consultation with deaf children and parents.
  • We reference information on ‘auxiliary’ aids in the Accessibility Local Authority strategy which can be is accessed on the front page of the Local Officer website (see Accessibility Strategy 2013 – 2016).
  • I agree that we need to include more information about social care services and this is an area that we need to populate on the website.
  • We currently offer restricted support for Personal Budgets but again we are looking to extend this once we have revised our policy here.
  • Regarding any concerns or complaints, we have a section where comments and concerns can be noted about provision and support. We are monitoring and responding to these questions or concerns accordingly.

Finally we would like to add your details and other voluntary organisations and have an open offer to add this information. Thank you again for the valuable feedback and we look forward to continuing to work with you are we seek to improve the local offer for families with children and young people who have Special needs.

Query From A Professional 18/11/2015

Could not find details on physiotherapy services at CDC and commented more services are needed. They would like more options between useful and not useful etc and would like to know what happens to this feedback.

Response From Bedford Borough’S SEN & Disability Guide

Thank you for your feedback on our website. We are aware that there are gaps in provider information especially around health services on our website. We are actively trying to rectify this and provide further details of services available.

Query From A Professional

Found the content very useful, only had a quick look but I found what I wanted quickly.

Would be a good idea to change the spelling of ‘continually’ which is in your request to complete the feedback form.

Response From Bedford Borough’S SEN & Disability Guide

Thank you for your comments and are glad to hear that you found the website accessible and informative. We also thank you flagging up the error on the feedback form which we will rectify.

Query From A Professional

Not easy to negotiate. Very poor search facility. Does not filter sufficiently. For a parent with little SEND knowledge and understanding it would be of very little use. They would be likely to give up.

Response From Bedford Borough’S SEN & Disability Guide

Thank you for your feedback and we take on board your comments.

We are actively updating the website by sending out continual update request forms to providers and schools to ensure information is current. Likewise we value the feedback which highlights areas which can be improved to help access information for users.

Query From A Professional

I was looking for information about Alternative Provision. I found the information on the page advertising the school not very clear, particularly who the provision was for or how to access the secondary provision.

Response From Bedford Borough’S SEN & Disability Guide

Thank you for your comments and are sorry to hear that the information you were seeking was not clear and did not answer your queries.

The Council have an obligation to ensure all information is current and helpful. We continually request updated information from schools and providers ensuring the website is current and informative.

Query From Individual

Searching for contact details, none found which wasn’t useful. More services are needed together with up to date contact details.

Response From Bedford Borough’S SEN & Disability Guide

Thank you for your feedback and note your comments regarding contact details. We are actively working to ensure schools and providers keep us informed of any staff changes together with contact details as well as working to improve the amount of information the Local Offer holds.
