Hear2listen - National Citizen Service (NCS)
What our service does
Hear2listen deliver the National Citizen Service (NCS) in Bedfordshire. This opportunity is open to to all 16/17 yr olds and up to 25yr olds with additional needs.
To bring our country together by building stronger, more integrated communities and fostering understanding between young people from different backgrounds.
To build essential skills for life and work, investing in our country’s future talent.
To engage young people in social action in their communities and the democratic process, building their understanding of their responsibilities as citizens.
PHASE 1 - ADVENTURE
A four -day, three-night residential based away from home with fun activities such as canoeing, rock climbing and abseiling. A chance to meet new people and enjoy some adventure, fun and freedom!
PHASE 2 - DISCOVERY
A further 4 days where you'll develop life skills like confidence, leadership and communication to boost your CV or UCAS personal statement.
PHASE 3 - ACTION
Working in teams, you'll put your new skills into practice by delivering a community project of your choice. Plan, fundraise, make a difference!
You and your mates will get together to celebrate your achievements. NCS opens up a world of opportunities, giving you exclusive access to work placements, volunteering and events.
Location of our service
We cover the whole of Bedfordshire. Our locations are:-
Phase 1 – Over an hour from Bedfordshire.
Phase 2/3 – Within Bedfordshire.
Who our service provides for
Open to all aged 16yr olds – 25 yr olds with additional needs.
How to start using our service
Simply call the office 01767 319502. £50 for the whole journey however, if the YP is statemented or in receipt of any financial support – IT IS FREE
How decisions are made about who can use our service
Open to all.
How we communicate with our service users
The NCS will look at all needs on a case by case situation to find an appropriate solution to enable all young people to attend.
Accessibility of our service
All the venues we use are equipped to support young people with additional needs and each young person will be assessed prior to programme as part of the sign up process.
Qualifications and training of our staff
Where possible we aim to use experienced support staff, all staff are safeguarding training and DBS checked. If an additional specific need is identified we will aim to accommodate with appropriate staff. All staff are NCS trained.
