Who our service provides for
Specialises in services for deaf people and some advice to deafblind people of all ages.
How to start using our service
Advice is voluntary and free. Requests for communication support by educational and other establishments are circulated to qualified/experienced Deaf Support members and employment arrangements made by them. Those wishing to learn sign language are put in touch with local providers.
How decisions are made about who can use our service
Using our service for advice is unlimited and provided initially by Sandra Dowe.
How we communicate with our service users
Leaflet and resources can be seen on www.deafsupport.org.uk on the resource page.
Accessibility of our service
We do not have a building for public use. The office of the Executive Officer is used in one to one assistance to individuals such as Deaf British Sign Language Teachers and meetings are by appointment only.
Qualifications and training of our staff
We do not provide training but give information as to where training is available. We liaise with establishments providing BSL classes and Social Services Sensory Team in Luton for one to one support.
