Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery
What our service does
Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery offers child care from 7.30am – 6.30 pm, Monday to Friday for children 6 weeks old to 5 years. Sessions run from 7.30am – 1pm and 1pm to 6.30 pm.
The nursery is situated in a residential area within walking distance of Bedford town centre and train station. The building was formally a doctor’s surgery, with a large car park and 2 entrances into the building. There is a large ramp to both entrances to enable wheel chair access.
The rooms are split into 3 age groups, the babies being a self-contained unit with a sleep room upstairs and their own garden which is accessible to the babies by a ramp.
The toddler room is large with many rooms to allow free flow and a sensory room for all children to access. The pre-school is made up of 2 rooms; the smaller room is used for literacy and maths small group work to prepare children for school. The larger room allows children to choose what activities they participate in and free flow into the garden. The parents have a separate entrance to the Pre-school room by the way of a doorbell which is lower enough for the children to ring themselves.
Location of our service
We cover the local area and the wider community, therefore we work together with numerous lower schools to help children transfer with ease to their new settings.
Who our service provides for
We meet the needs of children from the early years, English as an additional language and disabilities. Every child is treated as an individual and their needs are met by their key worker who plans their activities to extend their learning.
How to start using our service
There are currently no waiting lists but we do ask that an appointment is made to come and view the setting by either phone call or e-mail. We are happy for parents to come and have trial sessions in their child’s room, meet the staff and participate in activities. We arrange at least 2 settling in sessions before a child starts if not more if needed.
How decisions are made about who can use our service
We are open to all families.
How we communicate with our service users
We offer frequent newsletters, letters and daily diaries to keep parents updated on what is happening in the nursery as well as parent evenings twice a year to allow parents to meet with their child’s keyworker and go through their learning journeys.
Accessibility of our service
All children’s services are on the ground floor, enabling access to all rooms and a ramp outside from the car park to the main entrance.
Qualifications and training of our staff
We have a SENCO trained member of staff on site.
