Bedford’s SEN and Disability guide is Bedford’s local offer. Our local offer will set out, in one place, what support and services are available for children and young people with disabilities and special educational needs and their families. We are continuing to work with families, and people who work with them, to develop the local offer in Bedford.
In Bedford Borough we are committed to ensuring that specialist provision continues to meet the needs of pupils with ASD. With this in mind we have developed the provision at Goldington Green Academy. There are further plans linked to the development of the Special Free school and more information will be updated on the Local Offer website shortly.
Our vision and principles
The key principles of our Guide were co-produced with children, young people and their families.
A large group of stakeholders have been consulted and worked with through the development of this guide, however 3 main groups have taken a lead it is co-production:
- Bedford Borough Council
- Bedford Borough Parent Carer Forum
- Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group
From 1st September 2014 the provisions in the Children and Families Act, its associated regulations and Code of Practice will be in force. Please read the legislation behind what we are trying to achieve for children and young people with SEN and Disabilities in Bedford.
Have your say
We're speaking to lots of parents, carers, young people and professionals as we develop the SEN and Disability Guide. We want to get ideas from the people who want or need to use the local offer. Our local offer is everyone's business and will be shaped by feedback from you.
Please get in touch if you'd like to have your say on what's in our Guide and on how the information is presented.
